At NWI we recognize that conflict does not occur in a vacuum, and that underlying emotions and past experiences are vital in attempting to resolve the present conflict. We believe that understanding generates resolution.
During mediation the parties are encouraged to set their own agenda, and talk about whatever they agree to talk about. This leads the parties to whatever resolution they want, rather than what others may think is appropriate. The mediator's role is to encourage the parties' interaction and encourage them to feel empowered.
